THE GRADE

For College Bound Young Men

The Grade offers the practical, intellectual and moral foundation to be a man of character. The Grade is a monthly seminar that helps young men see their high school years from the viewpoint of their entire life. It encourages them to develop now the skills and attitudes they will need for future life challenges. Through a combination of classes, career presentations, and one-on-one mentoring, it teaches them to be men of character who are ready for responsibility in: marriage and fatherhood, professional work, responsible citizenship, friendship with family, colleagues, neighbors, and God.

MENTORING

Each student is assigned a mentor who will meet individually with him between the monthly sessions. The mentor guides the student in applying the principles taught in class and helps him set personal goals that are important and practical. Mentoring lasts 45 minutes and takes place at the student’s home for the 1st session and thereafter at Montevista Study Center on 1st and 2nd Saturdays or as otherwise mutually agreed upon. Experience has shown the personal one-on-one mentoring to be a very effective means to help the students progress in academics, professional direction, contributions to family life, friendship building, and other areas covered in the seminars.
